Shingeki no Kyojin

Episode 13 is so fucking awesome and I can’t stop watching it.

Even though, Jean was always provoking Eren in the first few episodes of the series causing me to hate him, I became worried about his safety this episode and the previous one as well. I hope that his mighty attitude is already diminishing at this point.

That moment where Eren carrying the boulder was so priceless and it made me shout. LOL!

Image

Mikasa’s reaction after Eren finally closed the hole. She’s always cute in every aspects.

Image

On the hand, I’m starting to see the reason why numerous SNK fans out there really adore this guy. I have to admit that his fighting skills are exceptionally incredible. Well, let’s see if he can manage to be included in my list of favorite characters in SNK.

Image

After a few moments, when I saw Eren in the underground jail, my reaction was like this: “What the…why Eren has to be in prison? he didn’t do anything wrong!”

Image

Anyway, I’ve realized that this is the first time I saw Eren wearing this kind of clothes :3 Image

This Rivaille/Levi appears to be a cold person, but I think he has a soft spot in his heart. He had managed to amazed me when he said that he will take full responsibility for Eren. Anyway, Looking forward to his next actions!

It seems like the next episode is a recap. So I guess, I have to wait for two weeks before to see the next happenings.

My Top 5 Anime Series for Spring Season 2013

The series that were aired during Spring season 2013 are incredibly exceptional so I decided to picked my top 5 for it. What a shame that it already came to its closure but it’s a part of the life of every otaku so no choice but to accept it. Anyway, I’ll start with my top 5 which is:

Top 5Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge
Image
Even though, this series didn’t managed to be included in the list of most popular anime series during Spring 2013, I absolutely enjoyed this one. Despite of the fact that most of the characters of this series shows fetishes. Its concept is unique when it comes to objective & weapons. What I like the most in this series are the intense parts embedded in each episodes. It has a lot of violent & sadist battles but enjoyable as well. The ending is kinda satisfying but a second season is not a bad idea.
Overall Rating: 8/10
Top 4Hataraku Maou-Sama!

One of the most sought anime series during Spring 2013, places after Shingeki no Kyojin. This is one of the best Romance-Comedy anime series I’ve seen. The concept is unique and wonderful. Its protagonist is hilarious and he will never fail to deliver amusement to the viewers. On the other hand, its ending is quite dissatisfying so second season is a must.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Top 3Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.

This series depicts the life of a loner which I really adore. I’m an isolated person like the protagonist do so that’s why he became one of my favorite anime characters. It shows how society acts in many aspects and how loners cope to a certain circumstances. Even though, it has romance genre embedded in its plot, you can’t totally feel it. The romance was only realized visibly for a meantime during the last episode. Nonetheless, I enjoyed watching it and I also hoping for a second season.
Overall Rating: 9/10

Top 2Suisei no Gargantia

Didn’t managed to be included in the list of most popular anime for Spring 2013, but this series amused me in many aspects. Well, I don’t know why I became attached with this anime but I just love it. I hope that it can last up to 20+ episodes but it only has 13 episodes. Anyway, the last episode is not yet available so I can’t spout my final conclusion for this series (this part will be edited once I’ve seen the last episode).
Overall Rating: 9.5/10
Top 1Shingeki no Kyojin

Definitely the best anime for Spring 2013! but I do think that it’s the best anime for 2013 since all of its aspects are so fascinating. I can’t express in words how I really feel about this anime. I recommend this to everyone who haven’t tried it though violence can be seen everywhere within this series, it depends on the young viewers below 13 years old on how will they absorb it. The anime is on its 13th episode and it will last up to 25 so I’ll not be able to leave a conclusion for it hereby. Anyway, I’m looking forward for the next happenings.
Overall Rating: 10/10

Kuroko no Basket and Slam Dunk

Slam Dunk and Kuroko no Basket, two anime that excels in their category, in basketball genre. These two were being compared when Kuroko no Basket was still airing but this issue came to a closure when Kuroko no Basket’s first season ended. However, I’m gonna bring up this ancient issue since I want to evaluate the similarities and differences between these two series that I didn’t manage to do last time and I also want to help those people who is hesitating on trying either of these two. In this evaluation, I’m going to be neutral so I’ll not say any bias thing. I’m just going to evaluate the similarities & differences of both series. Additionally, this contains both facts & conjectures from what I’ve observed.

Image

Slam Dunk possesses a preceding atmosphere. Nonetheless, I clearly recall enjoying it before I discovered Kuroko no Basket until now. You’ll not get tired easily with it, it’s one of the significant characteristics that Slam Dunk possesses. The protagonist of this series, Sakuragi Hanamichi, is a hilarious person with boisterous personality. He’s seeking for a girlfriend that he really want to acquire from the very start. He suddenly joined the Shohoku Basketball Team to become much more closer towards Haruko Akagi. Sakuragi later had an argument with the captain of the basketball club, not knowing that the latter is the big brother of Haruko. The truth was soon unraveled to him after their argument, making Sakuragi a tame man. He joined the basketball team later on.
LOL, I didn’t notice that I already summarized the first episode, Anyway, I did it on purpose to show their difference when it comes to plot. As you can see, their plot are contrary with each other. Slam Dunk depicts a normal basketball player that is attempting to reach the no. 1 spot. Additionally, the characters posses mundane moves that you can encounter if you tried or watching real-life basketball matches.

Image

On the other hand, Kuroko no Basket has a contemporary atmosphere. Its animation is advance like the other series nowadays. Its plot is outstanding as well. Even though, it’s about basketball, it doesn’t mean that you’ll not be able to like it, same with Slam Dunk, it has a characteristic of attaching viewers to it that are not fond of Basketball. But, a numerous fans of Slam Dunk are absolute Basketball fans. The protagonist of Kuroko no Basket has a hefty difference from Slam Dunk’s protagonist, as well as with the other Basketball series’ protagonists. He is a deadpan person and a straight forward person. Basically, he is a blunt being. Kuroko is depicted as the “Phantom Sixth of Generation of Miracles” when he was in Middle School. He always tends to have a “teamwork” revolving around his current teammates, because according to him, victory is useless if a team didn’t achieved it by having a teamwork. When he met Kagami, he decided to make him his new “light”. If Kuroko hail a person as his light, it means that this certain person has a big effect on Kuroko’s ability, if this person’s ability is outstanding, Kuroko’s performance is going to be outstanding as well. Because, it depends on the “light” if Kuroko’s performance will turn out good. He also want to achieve the no. 1 spot in Japan for his current team, Seirin. But before to achieve this, he must defeat all of his former teammates in Teikou due to the fact that they also attempt in getting the spot.
The characters in this series has an extraordinary moves that cannot be encountered easily, it’s kinda similar to “Prince of Tennis” in terms of skills. This aspect of Kuroko no Basket is one of the reasons why sometimes some viewers can’t manage to like it. These people keep spouting this sentence: “the moves in that anime is not realistic”. Well, it’s an anime so it’s not meant to be realistic, and what I’ve stated is my absolute logic. They should keep in their minds that not all sports anime are meant to center a normal sports club.

These two series are really contrary with many aspects. But it’s inevitable for the viewers of both series to avoid comparing it to each other since they both excel in their category in different era.
Both are recommendable by me so go ahead if you haven’t tried either of these two.

Eren Jaegar’s Character – My Appraisal

I decided to make this appraisal to show my admiration towards Eren Jaegar. What I’m going to mention in this appraisal or evaluation is what I PERSONALLY think about Eren’s character. The anime is currently airing and on its halfway already so this appraisal is going to cover until then. One last thing, this appraisal has spoilers in it so make sure that before you read this, you already watched the episodes that were covered here or you’re reading the manga. Okay, I’m going to start now.

Image

Eren Jaegar is the male protagonist in the anime Shingeki no Kyojin, depicted by many as the best anime of 2013 (I totally agree with this!). I thought at the first episode of the anime, Eren is just going to be a mundane protagonist like what the other shounen animes have. As you can see, he’s an annoying brat on the start so that’s why I came to that conclusion. But what I had deducted was not entirely right, when he graduated from that soldier school (I don’t know what I suppose to call it, I guess it’s recon corps academy? okay whatever it is) he became alluring to my vision when I completely realized the perseverance, determination, industry & tenacity wrap in his being. Despite of being a normal person, he never fell in desperation like the other human beings did though being par in terms of domination strength with the giant monsters is pretty impossible to achieve and there’s a big possibility of losing, this is one of the significant reasons why I liked him or probably the main reason.

Image

That time when he discovered that he can manipulate a titan is one of the fascinating scenes in the series I never thought there will be a shocking twist, anyway afterwards, my admiration towards him grew more heftier than before. Making him my “modern hero”. That idea came up in myself these recent days, this is the incident how I said so:

Last few days, our English instructor asked us this question: “Who is your hero?”. The first name that popped out in my mind at that time was “Eren Jaegar”. And two days after, the question was asked again, on this time, the question was like this: “who is your modern hero” and like before his name popped out again in my mind. So since then, I decided to declare Eren as my “modern hero”.

I’m done with my self description of his character/personality now, I’m going to proceed in sharing my thoughts and observations about his relationship about the following characters:

His Parents:

Image

Even though, sometimes he kinda acts as a discourteous son towards his parents, (episode 1) especially on his mother, he still treasures them, as shown in the first episode when the colossal titan broke the wall, he hasted to confirm if his mother was fine and when the latter died he became mournful, addition to that he sworn to slay all the titans with his bare hands just to get revenge for his mother and also for the mankind.

Mikasa Ackerman:

Image

Mikasa is the adopted sister of Eren. The latter is very significant to her as shown in many instances. One of these is where Eren was speculated to be dead due to the fact that he was eaten alive by a titan. Mikasa lost her concentration in fighting and fell into despair. Eren is shown to reject Mikasa’s offer of help every time I think it’s because he wants to do anything all by himself and maybe he wants to take away Mikasa from danger, we all know that she possesses an enormous fighting skills but she’s still a girl and sometimes she can be fragile as well. Not sure if there’s romance revolving around them but base on my deduction they’ll not gonna end up in that kind of relationship eventually.

Armin Arlert:

Image

He is a childhood friend of Eren and they really have an excellent relationship. They’re helping each other when facing a decisive problem as shown when Armin tried to convince one of the commander that treated them as a foe for mankind; When Armin was almost eaten by a titan and Eren saved him from certain death, sacrificing himself instead of Armin.

The anime adaptation was my reference in doing this. I’m not reading the manga because I want to see the next happenings in action.
